Vietnam National Domain ".VN" Lifecycle (Decree No. 147/2024/ND-CP, effective Dec 25, 2024)

• Free domain status: Users can register any domain that is currently free and unassigned.

• Domain maintenance: The domain must be maintained immediately upon registration (minimum 1 year).

• Upon expiration: Following the expiration date, the domain is suspended (DNS resolution paused).

• Suspended status (30 days): Within 30 days post-expiry if not yet renewed. The registrant has this 30-day window to renew normally.

• Revocation processing status (Pending Delete): From day 31 post-expiry if unrenewed, the domain transitions to revocation status. Maintenance is not permitted and revocation takes at most 15 days before returning to free status.

International Domain Lifecycle (ICANN Standards)

• Registered (Active): Duration spans 1 to 10 years. May be renewed at any point before expiration, up to a maximum validity of 10 years.

• Expired & Renewal Grace Period (30 days): The domain stops functioning post-expiry. The registrant has 30 days to renew at standard pricing.

• Redemption Period (30 days): Domain is expired > 30 days. Standard renewal unavailable; redemption requires a restore fee plus 1-year renewal fee.

• Pending Deletion (5 days): Final phase of the domain lifecycle (typically 5 days). Neither renewal nor restore is allowed; awaiting public drop.

• Released (Available for New Registration): The domain is returned to Available status, open for anyone to register.

Check Domain Age & Online Lifecycle Profile

The Domain Age Checker tool helps you determine the exact creation date of any domain name, calculating how many years, months, and days it has been active, along with its remaining expiration term.

Domain age is an essential metric in SEO and digital marketing. Older, well-maintained domains typically carry greater Domain Authority, organic backlink profiles, and established search engine trust compared to newly registered domains.

Beyond age statistics, our platform analyzes domain lifecycle progression, managing registrar details, authoritative name servers, EPP status flags, and resolved server IP records.

Key features

  • Precise Day-by-Day Age Calculation Clearly displays domain age broken down into Years, Months, and Days, alongside total elapsed days since initial registration.
  • Expiration Monitoring & Countdown Provides registry expiry dates with an automatic time-remaining countdown to help prevent accidental domain expirations.
  • Visual Lifecycle Progress Bar Visualizes the percentage of time elapsed during the current registration lifecycle between the creation date and the expiration date.
  • Registrar & Network Infrastructure Uncovers domain registrar entities, active name servers, registry security flags (EPP codes), and resolved hosting IP addresses.

Usage tips

  • When evaluating expired or pre-owned domains for SEO purchases, verifying initial creation date reveals true operational longevity.
  • Certain country-code TLDs (ccTLDs) may withhold creation dates under local privacy laws; the tool gracefully displays available expiration and registrar records.
  • Use the "Refresh" button if a domain was recently updated or renewed to bypass cached records and fetch live data.

Frequently asked questions

Older domains with consistent historical activity generally have accumulated quality backlinks, crawl history, and search engine trust, enabling new pages to be indexed and ranked more quickly than on newly registered domains.
If a domain is transferred or renewed without entering redemption or drop/deletion status, the registry creation date remains intact, preserving continuous domain age.
A small number of country registries (such as select European ccTLDs operating under strict data privacy or GDPR frameworks) do not publish creation dates in public WHOIS feeds. In these situations, expiration dates and registrar info remain visible.
The tool automatically calculates the exact years, months, and days remaining until the registry expiry date and presents an intuitive visual lifecycle progress bar.
Yes. You can enter internationalized characters or punycode notation (starting with xn--); the system normalizes and queries the registry seamlessly.
